Hello:
I am Archana Dhurka working in Dallas, TX. This is a tasty Dal recipe given to me by my Mother-in-law. Have fun!

Email: archana.arkanath@blockbuster.com

Mixed Dal

Ingredients

Moong Dal (4 measures)
Toor Dal (1 measure)
Chana Dal (1/2 measure)
Urad Dal (1/2 measure)
Salt- to taste
Haldi (turmeric)
Dhania powder (1 teaspoon)
Chilli powder (1/2 teaspoon)
Jeera (1 teaspoon)
Hing- Asafoetida- pinch
Ghee- 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. Mix and wash all the dals together.
  2. Add water(dal: water = 1:5)
  3. Add little salt and turmeric and let it cook. Usually takes abt 30-35 mnts.
  4. Test and see if Chana dal is done. That's when u know that the dal is done.
  5. Add Dhania powder and chilli powder and churn it very well.
  6. Reduce the flame in which u are cooking the dal.
  7. Heat some ghee in a small kadai and when it is hot, add jeera and hing.
  8. Put it in the dal.
  9. Sprinkle freshly cut coriander leaves.

Serve hot with Rotis or rice.

Tip:
I usually mix all the dals in the proportion I mentioned above and store it. I use about 1 katori of this mixed dal for the 2 of us at home.
