Hi,
My name is Ruchi. I stay at Denver (USA) with my husband. I love cooking & am a regular reader of this site & would love to contribute my recipe of Mutter-chaat. If you are a chaat lover you will definitely enjoy it.

Mutter Chaat

Ingredients

1-2 cups dried white Mutter soaked overnight & pressure cooked to soften. (if you want you can use fresh green peas instead, just pressure cook them to make them softer)
1 medium Onion chopped fine
1/2" Ginger chopped fine
1/4 cup Coriander leaves chopped fine
1-2 Green Chillies chopped fine
1 tsp Jeera
1 pinch Hing
1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
Tamarind Chutney as per taste
2-4 tbsp beaten Curds (or as per taste)
Salt to taste

Method :

  1. First make the sweet & sour tamarind chutney. Boil tamarind water with jaggery, salt, red chilli powder, jeera powder & 1-2 crushed flakes of garlic if desired. (the above given ingredients are only for the chaat)
  2. Heat a little oil in a wok or pan. When hot, add jeera & hing. When done add the boiled mutter. Put in the other ingredients saving a little onions, green chillies, chutney & curds & coriander and mix well.
  3. While serving top it with chopped onions, green chillies, some chutney & curd, sprinkle some chaat masala on top and last of all coriander leaves.
