Hi,
My Name is Ritu and I am from NY, I did not really think much about cooking till a few years ago and now it is one of my means of relaxing. I love seafood and this is one of my favourite recipes for cooking shrimp. Try it and enjoy, any questions email me at Rchowdhary@hotmail.com

Spicy Shrimp Curry

Ingredients

15-20 Jumbo Shrimps (cleaned and deveined)
Med sized Onions (2)
Crushed Tomatoes (2)
Tamarind paste (1tsp)
Ginger paste and Garlic paste (1 tbsp each)
Coconut Milk or paste (I have substituted it with coconut chutney also)
Green chillies to suit your palate (or 8-9 small ones they are usually more stronger)
Fresh Ground masala (Red Chilies (3-4), coriander, cinnamon-1/2 stick, cardamom- 2 or 3 the big black ones, cloves 4-5)
Plain Yogurt (1/2 cup)
Any Fish Masala
Coriander leaves fresh

Method:

  1. Marinate the shrimps in any kind of chili sauce even the mexican hot sauce will do and fish masala for 1/2 hour.
  2. Take some oil in a wok or kadai and add the onion, chili and ginger garlic paste with a little water and cook the paste for 20-25 mins on a slow flame, add the ground masala, and cook for another 10 mins on slow flame.
  3. Add the tamarind paste, tomatoes, coconut paste and cook for another 10 mins.
  4. Add yogurt and 2 cups of water and cook for another 15 mins on high flame to thicken the curry.
