I am Vidya Guruprasad from USA. I like to try different receipes from different places, different people. But this the one that my mom-in-law taught me. It is prepared very quickly and is very good to taste. My husband likes it very much.

Bread Uppuma

Ingredients

18 slices of Wheat Bread (or as per requirement)
1 tin of diced Tomatoes
1 big Onion chopped
Red Chilli Powder
Sambar Powder
Salt

Method:

  1. Make small pieces of the bread and keep it aside.
  2. Take a little vegetable oil and fry the chopped onion till golden brown.
  3. Add diced tomatoes and heat for sometime till the tomato is lightly cooked. To this, add red chilli powder, sambar powder and salt to taste. Sambar powder is only to get the delicious flavour.
  4. Before adding the bread pieces add very little water to the mix. One can also add boiled cauliflowers, potatoes (finely chopped), beans or any other vegetable that goes with the taste.
  5. Mix all ingredients very well and let it warm for some time before switching off the gas stove. Be sure not to burn the bread. Uppuma is ready to serve.

It is very good as morning breakfast or evening snack. It is prepared with ingredients which are generally there at home and it doesn't require much time to cook. Cooking time is 15-20 minutes.
