Hello Everybody,
I am SowmyaGanapathy from Minneapolis. I would like to share a recipe of Kai Rasam, a Karnataka dish. It can made out of cucucmber, ladys finger or beans or a mixture of all the 3 vegetables.

E-mail : sklove@dellnet.com

Kai Rasam

Ingredients

Poppy seeds (white ellu) - 1 tsp spoon
Red Chilli - 4 or 5
Urud dhal - 1 tsp spoon
Jeera - 1 tsp spoon
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Tamarind - little bit
Oil and salt to taste.

Method

  1. First fry the poppy seeds without mixing it in oil and keep it separately.
  2. Then fry coconut, red chilli, urud dhal and jeera till it turns a little brown and mix it with poppy seeds and allow it to cool down.
  3. In the meantime soak whatever vegetable you are using in tamarind water and boil it till the smell of tamarind goes completely.
  4. Grind the mixture in a blender and pour it on the vegetables and add some salt to taste. And enjoy the food.
