I am Sowmya Ganapathy from Minneapolis. My next recipe is Brinjal (egg plant) Rasavangi also a pure South Indian dish.

Brinjal Rasavangi and Brinjal Gothsu

Kathrikai Rasavangi

Method

  1. Cut Kathrikai into pieces and fry in 1 tsp of oil.
  2. Then pour tamarind water and boil with 1/2 tsp salt, Manjal podi (turmeric powder) - 1 pinch.
  3. Boil tuwar dal-1/4 cup.

For frying

Kadalai paruppu (channa dhal) - 1 tsp
Dania - 2 tsp
Red Chilli - 4
Coconut - 1 tbsp

  1. Fry these in 1/2 tsp of oil then beat in the mixi for making powder.
  2. Then pour this powder and dal into boiled kathrikai and pour enough water to get thickness.
  3. That's it Rasavangi is ready!

Kathrikai Gothsu

Method

  1. Take one big kathrikai heat directly in the gas on all sides and peel the skin.
  2. Then mash the brinjal and pour it in a pan with tamarind extract.
  3. Add 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp chilli powder, a pinch of jaggery and then boil it for 5- 10 min.
  4. And finally season it with mustard seeds.

A delicious gothsu is ready.
