Hello, I'm Anjana living in Singapore. This dish is very quick to make but at the same time tasty. It is a traditional Bengali dish. If you like it, e-mail me at anjanarc@hotmail.com

Pomfret In Mustard Sauce

Ingredients

Pomfret (1)
2 tablespoons Oil
Salt to taste

Mustard paste:

4 tablespoons Mustard seeds are ground with 1 Green Chilli (or more depending on how hot you like it), 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric and 1 teaspoon Salt in a spice grinder or blender with some cold water to form a mustard paste. It must be made fresh and you will know you've made the paste when you get the aroma of the mustard.

Method:

  1. Clean the fish and cut into two. Marinate the pomfret in the freshly prepared mustard paste with 1 tablespoon oil. No need to refrigerate.
  2. In a frying pan, heat the oil and put the marinated fish and 1 cup of cold water. Add salt to taste. Boil and simmer until fish is tender and to desired thickness of sauce.

The preparation time is 10 minutes, cooking time 10 minutes, but the taste is great!
