Hello!
I am Sivaselvi Gunasekaran from Tampa Fl, U.S.A. This is a tasty high protein vegetarian dish. Tastes like scambled eggs. If made relatively dry, it looks and tastes like keema. If one uses red cabbage, the color also looks like meat keema!

Spicy Tofu

Ingredients

1 cup firm Tofu grated or tofu crumbles.
1 cup chopped Onions
1 cup chopped Red Cabbage, Peas , Cauliflower or Carrots
2 Tbsp of Oil
1/2tsp of Fennel Seeds
1 -2 tsp Curry Powder or any Curry Paste or Garam Masala Powder or Hot Pepper Powder
2 tsp of Tomato Paste
1 cup chopped Tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped Cilantro (coriander leaves)
2 tsp of Sour Cream
1/2 cup of Water

Method:

  1. Heat 2 Tbsp of oil in a pan.
  2. Add 1/2 tsp of fennel seeds.
  3. Add onions, saute until limp. Add cabbage and tomatoes, stir.
  4. Add tofu and mix well. Add salt, curry powder or any curry paste or garam masala powder as per your desired level of spiciness.
  5. Add tomato paste. Mix. Cover and cook till done to your desired tenderness.
  6. Add cilantro at the end.
One can eat this with cooked white Rice, Naan, Chappathi or as sandwitch.

Cook's Note:

  1. This can be made dry as stir-fry or if you like it saucy, then add 2 tsp of sour cream and 1/2 cup of water and cook.
  2. Choose any vegetable like peas, cauliflower or carrots alone or in any combination.
  3. Along with fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks and a few whole cloves can also be added for additional flavour.
