Hi! I am Dr. Sundararaman, from Bangalore. Try some thing different for a change. Here is a Mexican vegetable, idela for salad - Indian style. Jicama is areadily available in the US super markets. It is yam like root vegetable. It is simply delicious. Try it.

Jicama Salad

Ingredients

1 Jicama
2 teaspoon lime juice
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon sambar powder (optional)
1 teaspoon oil (optional)

Method:

  1. Peel the jicama and cut long peices.
  2. Put these in bowl, sprinkle salt and sambar powder.
  3. Add lime juice and oil, mix well.
  4. Let it stand for 30 minutes. Serve at room temperature or cold.
