Hi,
I am Laxmi Bhatia from Kawasaki, Japan. Again I would like to share a Rajasthani dish known as Gatte ki Sabzi. I would welcome any suggestions to this recipe. Thank you very much.

Gatte ki Sabzi

Ingredients

1. Besan (Gram flour) 50gm.
2. Onion 1 medium size (finely chopped)
3. Tomatoes 2 medium size ( finely chopped)
4. Green chillies 3( finely chopped)
5. Ginger & Garlic paste - 1/4 tbsp.
6. Turmeric powder
7. Red chilli powder
8. Coriander powder - 1/4 tbsp.
9. Caraway - Pinch
10. Asafoetida Pinch
11. Cumin seed
12. Gram masala ¼ tbsp.
13. Salt to taste
14. Oil
15. Water

Method:

  1. Besan, 2 green chillies, little bit red chilli powder and caraway all mix well.
  2. Add water into besan to make dough.
  3. Make a 1 cm diameter round and 4 inches long.
  4. Put it into boiling water and boil for 5 minutes.
  5. Take out the water and cut the Besan round into small pieces and keep aside. (Besan rounds are called as gatte.)
  6. Heat oils, add onion, stir-fry till well browned.
  7. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and ginger garlic paste heat for 2 minutes.
  8. Add green chillies and tomatoes and heat for 4 minutes.
  9. Add termeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, Salt, garam masala and one cup water and boil for 5 minutes.
  10. Now gravy is ready. Put gatte into gravy and boil for 3 minutes.
  11. Enjoy this dish with chapaties.
