I live in Qatar with my husband and my son.This is the first recipe I learnt from my mom who is a great cook . Everyone like it. my son who has very tasty toungue is very difficult to be satisfied. And he likes this curry very much.

Dal Benis

Ingredients

1 cup toordal
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cup coconut
4 medium onions chopped (corsely)
2 tomotoes
1 string of karipatha
1 handful of coriander leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric
1tsp chilli powder
3 green chillies

  1. Cook soaked dal with 1/2 onions, tomotoes, and turmeric with 2 cups of water.
  2. See to that the dal is fully cooked (I cook with pressure cooker upto 4-6 whisles.)
  3. Take a kadai ,fry onions,garlic and grind it with wet coconut and coriander and make a paste
  4. After the dal is cooked add chilli powder and salt and biol it for 5-10 mins adding little water to it.
  5. Add the grinded paste to the dal and boil for another 10 mins on low fire toll smell of the masala goes.
  6. Serve hot with chappatis, dosas, hot rice with ghee on it.
