Hi,
I am Niyati Again. My Previous receipe was "Home made Tacos" . This time I want to share with you a very rare recipe called "Gotla nu shaak or Mango Seed Subji".

E-mail : nthakore@cisco.com

Mango Seed Subji

Ingredients

4-5 Ripe (sweet & sour mangoes with seeds ofcourse) (if you have only seeds after the mango juice has been extracted, it would be great)
2 cups of water
Jaggery
Salt
1/4 tsp Haldi, Red Mirch Powder
Lemon Juice (if mangoes are too sweet)

For Tadka

Cumin seeds
Hing powder (optional)

Method:-

  1. Extract Mango juice from the mangoes and keep aside. Do not throw Mango seeds but keep them aside with all juice in it.
  2. In a Pan , mix Mango seeds and little bit of mango juice and water but do not make the mixture too thin.
  3. Add salt, haldi and mirch powder.
  4. Now taste the liquid if it is sour then add jaggery to make it sweet and sour, if it is sweet then add lemon juice to make it sweet and sour.
  5. Heat the mixture on medium heat untill the masala mixes well and the mixture becomes little thick. 2-3 minutes.
  6. Heat oil, add cumin seeds and hing powder, when the seed splutters, pour tadka to the sabji and heat the sabji on low flame flame for 10 minutes.
  7. At the end, Add chopped coriander and enjoy mango seed subji with chapatis. You should serve the sabji with atleast one mango seed in the bowl.
