Shrimp Curry
Ingredients
Shrimp- 50 nos.
Onion - 1 large or 2 small ones
Green Chillies - 4 (depends on individual preference)
Garlic paste -- 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder- a pinch
Salt - as required
Tamarind paste - 1 spoon
Coriander powder - 2 tablespoon
Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon
Black pepper - 1/2 tespoon
Curry leaves -- 8 nos.
Oil - for cooking.
Method:
- Shell the prawns and de-vein them.
- Cook in a little salted water with black pepper and 1 spoon of garlic
paste
till it's slightly hard or till you feel it is properly done.
- Remove and drain the excess water.
- Chop the onions and green chillies into tiny pieces.
- Heat oil in a kadai and add curry leaves, cumin, onion, garlic and green
chilli. Add coriander and the rest of the black pepper when the onion turns
golden and you get the fried onion aroma.
- Once the masala is fried add the shrimp and fry a little.
- Dissolve the tamarind paste in a small bowl of water. Add it to the
shrimp and let it simmer.
