Hi!
It's Roopa again. This time I have a delicious recipe using Sardines. The recipe goes well even with frozen/tinned sardines, in case you don't get fresh ones. You can send me your comments at Roopa_kamath@yahoo.com

Sardine Fish Masala Fry

Ingredients

For the fish:

5 Sardines-cleaned & scored on both sides
2 tsp Chilli Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Haldi
2 cloves of Garlic-crushed

For the Masala:-

1 large Onion
2 sprigs of Curry leaves
2 Dry Red Chillies
1/2 tsp Haldi
1/2 tsp Salt

Coconut Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Marinate the sardines with the ingredients for the fish for about 1/2 - 1 hour.
  2. Then pan fry in hot oil till they are slightly blackened on both sides.
  3. Drain the excess oil from the fish using kitchen papers.
  4. Then in the same oil add curry leaves & red chillies. Fry a bit.
  5. Add finely chopped onions to the same oil. Fry till golden brown. Add 1/2 tsp haldi.
  6. Add salt & the fish & mix well
  7. Serve hot with Hot Rice, Dal, Pickles & Salad.
