Hi Again,
I am Jayanti Raghu, and I am here with another self made recepe for all of you. No, you need not worry about how it is going to come out just because I created it on my own. Everyone just loved it. I have had apple tarts here in the U.S. and I love it and always wanted a recipe but I could not find an easy one which I could make with whatever I had at home. My earlier recipe was Green Corn. My email is joysrsr@lycos.com

Apple Tart

Ingredients

1. Self raising flour 3 cups
2. Eggs 2
3. Unsalted Butter 3 cups
4. Sugar (castor) 2 1/2 cups
5. Jaggery or brown sugar
6. Cinnamon powder
7. Apples (off course)

Method

  1. First, cook the apples in a microwave or in a cooker till it is nice and medium soft. Then peel the skin and keep aside. Mix the self raising flour (which already has a little bit of sugar and salt in it) with butter, cinamon, sugar, and eggs.
  2. Beat or rather mix them nicely, You should be able to see that there is more butter in the mix than anything else (I know that is a lot of fat). The mix should be the consistency of cake batter.
  3. Then in a deep bowl apply butter to the surface or place butter paper and then pour this batter just about covering the bowl's surface, then place the apples which have been cut and cooked and also peeled.
  4. On the other side make syrup out of brown sugar or jaggery, it should look like nice caramel. Once the caramel is done then pour a little on the apples which have been placed inside the bowl. If you want you can cover the apples with caramel too , and then cover the rest of the remaining batter over the apples in the bowl.
  5. After sandwiching the apples with the batter press all the sides of the batter.
  6. Finally, Place the bowl of apple tart to be baked at 350 in the oven for about 30 to 40 minutes. Keep checking it now and then. The apple tart should look nice and golden brown and crispy on the top.
  7. Once that is done take it out and pour some nice syrup then if you like place a scoop of ice cream pour syrup and place a cherry. Voila !!!! You have a nice treat for yourself.

This is my own way of doing it, if anybody has the original recipe please tell me about it.
