Spring Onion Dhal

Ingredients

1. Spring Onions - 1 bunch
2. Tomatoes - Finely Chopped 1/2 Cup
3. Moong Dhal - 1 Cup
4. Cumin Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
5. Chilli Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
6. Garam Masala - 1/4 Teaspoon
7. Salt - To Taste
8. Oil - As Required.

Method:

  1. Soak the Moong Dhal for an hour. Cut the Spring Onions into small round pieces. While cutting make sure you keep the bootom part ie the thick onion part seperately and the leave part aside. So that while frying them you can put the onion part first and fry them a little more so that it becomes tender too.
  2. Heat the Tava with a liite Oil and put the Cumin Seeds. Then add the Onion part alone and fry them for 5 Minutes. Now add the Chopped Tomatoes and fry them. Then add the chopped Leaves of the Spring Onions and fry them for 3 minutes.Add the Salt and Chilli Powder too.
  3. Add the Soaked Moong Dhal to the Tava and let the Dhal along with the Spring Onions cook until the Dhal is tender..Now add the Garam Masala Powder and simmer the heat.Close the Tava with a lid for 5 minutes.Remove from Heat.

This Dhal is very simple to make and is good for health too.It can served with Pulkas, Chapattis and Rice.
