This is Sugandhi again. Dals are my favourites. Here's a different style of dal. Hope you like it. My email is sansu@emirates.net.ae.

Rustic Dal

Ingredients

Tur Dal 1/4 cup
Channa dal 1/4 cup
Arhar dal 1/4 cup
Urad dal 1/4 cup
Channa 1/4 cup
Red chillies 3
Black pepper 1 tsp.
Jeera 1 tsp.
Dhania 1 tsp.
Tomatoes 3
Garlic pods 2
Haldi 1 tsp.
Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Soak all the dals together overnight. Then cook them well.
  2. In a blender grind together 2 tomatoes, jeera, black pepper, dhania, garlic, haldi and 2 red chillies.
  3. Now in a heavy bottomed pan, pour some oil, add 1 red chilli and the diced tomato and roast it for half a minute, then add the masala paste and roast that too, till the raw smell is gone.
  4. Now add the dal and salt to taste, let it blend together well. Your rustic dal is ready to eat.
