Masur Dal Pulao

Preparation Time : 30 min
Cooking time : 15 min

What you need ?

Whole Masur Dal : 250 gms
Onion : I medium Size (Chopped Finely)
Basmati Rice: 200 gms
Ginger Paste : 1 tablespoon
Garlc : 2 cloves chopped finely
Garam masala Powder
Green peas : 100 gms
Green chillies : 2 (Chopped finely)
Salt to your taste
Cauliflower: I medium size (Cut into medium size pieces)
Tomatoes : 1 medium size (Chopped)
Cunmin Seeds: 1 teaspoon
Bay leaves: 2
Oil /Ghee / Butter : 2 table spoon (You can use any of these medium for cooking)

How to make ?

  1. Start by soaking the rice for about 30 minutes.
  2. Soak the masur dal for about 1 hour or so.
  3. You can do even without soaking.
  4. Boil the dal in your preesure cooker for about 10 minutes or so.
  5. The dal shold remain whole even after boiling.
  6. In a frying Pan take oil.
  7. Allow the oil to heat.
  8. Add the cumin seeds and bay leaves to the hot oil followed by the chopped onion, garlic and tomatoe.
  9. Cover and cook for some time.
  10. Add the garam masala, green chillies, ginger paste, salt and cook for some time.
  11. Now in a seperate pot you can boi the cauliflwe for about 5 minutes.
  12. Put those boiled pieces into these masala mixture and cook for sometime.
  13. Add the green peas and the boiled dal and cook for sometime.
  14. Now add the soaked riced and cook for some time.
  15. Then put required amount of water for the rice to cook.
  16. Cover and cook in low heat.
  17. Remove add one teaspoon of ghee or butter (this is optional).
  18. Add freshly chopped parsley or corriander leaves.

Serve hot with Raita or simple sala and nimbu ka achar.
