Channa Dal Tikia

Ingredients

For Cover

4-5 Potatoes boiled & mashed through.
5-6 Bread slice.
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper.
1 tsp. Chat Masala.
Salt to taste.

For Filling

2-3 handful of Channa dal.
1 small Onion finely chopped
3 tbsp. Green Coriander finely chopped
2 Green Chillies finely chopped.
1 tsp. Jeera.
1/2 tsp. Red Chilli powder
1/2 tsp. Garam-Masala Powder
1 tsp. Chat Masala Powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying.

Method:

For cover:

  1. Take mashed potatoes in a bowl.
  2. Soak bread slices in water little, squeeze out extra water, mix it in potatoes & add salt & chat masala. Keep it aside.

For Filling:

  1. Wash dal & pressure cook with little water & salt, it should not get mashed.
  2. Take 1 tbsp. oil in pan, put jeera, onions cook it little, add dal & other spices, mix it throughly, switch off gas & let it cool.

For Tikia:

  1. Make small rounds of batter, fill each round with one tsp. of filling, take it on palm & flatten it with soft touch. Do the same with rest of rounds.
  2. Take large tawa or pan, better if non-stick, keep it on medium heat, spread little oil on it & put tikia's 2-4 at a time, brown it from both sides, when almost done press it little more on tawa only, let it be crispy from both sides.
  3. Serve hot with Green Chutney.

For chutney, take 1 bunch of pudina, clean & wash it. In grinder put 3 large tomatoes chopped, 1 small onion chopped, 2 green chillies, pudina, salt, 1 tsp. jeera, 1 tsp. anardana or amchur. Grind it throughly, cool it & serve with hot tikia's. Enjoy.
