Hi,
I am Jharna Biswas from Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. As a bengali I like fish very much. So I think I must share this recipe. My previous recipe was Momo. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Moorighanta (Bengali Dish)

Ingredients

A large size head of the fish (Katla)-200gm.
Very special rice named as Gobindovog(in West-Bengal)
Onion paste-1/4th cup,
Garlic paste-1/4th cup
Ginger paste-1/4th cup,
Tomato puree-1/2 cup
Red chilli powder- 2 tsp,
Termaric powder-2 tsp
Garam masala powder-2 tsp.
Dhania-Jeera powder-2 tsp
Lemon juice- 2 tsp
Bay-leaf- 2 nos
Whole Garam masala
Jeera -2 tsp
Salt & Oil as your requirement
Coriander leaves for garnish

Method:

  1. Clean the head & marinate it with salt and turmeric powder. Fry it till golden brown.
  2. Soak the rice for 30 minutes.
  3. Put oil in a pan.Add some jeera. When it turns brown add bay leaves, whole garam masala. Then add onion paste, garlic paste, ginger paste & fry it.
  4. Add tomato puree, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, dhania-jeera powder, salt turmeric powder, lemon juice, & fry it untill it removes oil.
  5. Then add the head and broken it in the pan and mix altogether. Now add the soaked rice and mix it properly. Cover it for 25 minutes in a slow flame.
  6. Garnish it with fresh coriender leaves and enjoy the Bengali traditional dish. Hope you all enjoyed it. Thank you.
