Hi,
I am Shanti Naresh & would like to share with you a steamed dish "Momos", a dish from Darjelling. Which is specially good for the those who diet & want to have enough & also for those who are living in the colder parts of the world. Queries welcome at shantinaresh@bharatmail.com

Momos

Ingredients

250gms Maida for the dough
500gms Minced Lamb meat (Non Veggies)
OR
Cabbage (Veggies)
200gms Large Onions Chopped finely
1 tbsp Ghee / Oil
2 tsp Ajinomotto
1 Any Size Steamer
Salt to taste.

For The Tomato Chutney:

150 gms Boiled tomatoes
8 Flakes Garlic
6 Green Chillies ( you may even add more if needed hot )
Salt to taste

Method:

  1. First form the dough & keep it aside covered with a moist cloth.
  2. Add all the ingredients listed above & keep it aside.
  3. Roll out the dough very thin & make into small / medium sized circles.
  4. Fill a little of the filling in each of these & fold over by binding the edges with little water.
  5. Shape it in the form of dumplings or the shape you prefer,but see to it that the sides are all binded well.
  6. Put each of these in the steamer without sticking to each other.
  7. After 15 minutes remove them from the steamer & serve it hot with Tomato chutney.

This quantity is enough for 4. Read it...cook it...Enjoy it...! ! !

Method for Chutney:

Peel out the skin of the tomatoes. Grind it to a smooth paste all the ingredients listed. Ready to serve.
