Crab Masala

Ingredients

1. 1 lb Crabs- cleaned with shells on
2. 5-6 Garlic cloves finely chopped
3. 1/2 " Ginger finely choped
4. 2 Green Chillies slit
5. 1/2 tsp Tamarind pulp
6. 1 small Tomato
7. 2 Shallots
8. A small bunch of Coriander leaves
9. 5-6 Curry Leaves and a small Red Chilli
10.1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
11. 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
12. 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
13. Salt to taste
14. Vegetable Oil

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add curry leaves and red chilli. Fry till aroma comes out.
  2. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for a couple of minutes. Now add the chopped onions and fry till soft.
  3. Add green chillies and the powders to the masala. Make a paste out of the tamarind pulp with some warm water and add this as well.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and the uncooked crab and mix well. Add 1/2 a glass of water and salt and cook on low flame till the crab is cooked.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve Hot with rice.

You can use the same recipe for prawns, mussels or any other shell fish.
