Tomato Rasam
Ingredients
1) Tomatoes-5-6nos.(diced roughly)
2) Tuvar dal boiled water-1 cup.
3) Green chillies-3-4 nos[AS PER YOUR TASTE}
4) Coriander leaves with stem-8-9nos
5) Curry leaves with stem-5-6 nos
6) Turmeric powder-1/2tspn.
7) Toasted black pepper (coarsely) powder-1 tsp.
8) Toasted Cummin powder-1 tspn.
9) Garlic cloves-3-4nos.
10) Tamarind water-1/2 cup (dilute pulp water).
11) Mustard seeds-1 tspn
12) Asafoetida powder-a pinch
13) Oil- 1tsp
14)Water-3 cups
15)Salt as per taste
Method:
- Take a saucepan add diced tomatoes with 1 cup of water. To it add turmeric powder. Start blanching those tomatoes for 3 mins on medium flame or until it becomes soft & mushy. Once it is cooled smash those tomatoes with your clean hands.
- Add 2 more cups of water, boiled dal water, tamarind water to tomatoes add salt, coriander & curry leaves & stems & slightly crushed garlic cloves, 1 1/2green chillies (slit). Bring the tomato water to one boil.(KEEP WATCHING CAREFULLY]ONCE IT IS then immediately switch of the flame and add toasted cummin & black pepper powder (coarsely ground) & check the salt.
- Now heat a pan add oil to it, then add mutard seed once it splutters add asafoetida & remaining green chillies to it.
- Serve this hot pipping rasam with the steamed rice. This rasam is very good for you. It improves digestion power.
