Hi,
I am Deepika Sharma, from Mumbai. I got this recipe from my husbands Aunt. This is very tasty, nutritious and easy to make. Please send any queries or comments to dchannan@rediffmail.com

Green Channa Kabab

Ingredients

1 cup Green Channa (Choliya)
4-5 cloves of Garlic
2 inches of Garlic
1 cup Paneer grated or mashed
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
Red Chilli powder to taste
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Soak the green channa overnight. Drain all the water and grind the green channa with garlic, ginger and cumin seeds without water or as little water as possible.
  2. Now put the ground channa in a bowl and mix the rest of the ingredients and the mashed paneer (which should be equal in quantity to the ground channa).
  3. Keep a shallow frying pan on the stove and drizzel a little oil on it. Now take a little of the prepared mix in your hand and make a small round ball, flatten it by pressing the ball in your hands.
  4. Put it in the heated pan on medium heat, shallow fry (or deep fry) till it is brown on both the sides.
  5. Serve with mint chutny or tomato sauce.

Note: This recipe can also be made with fresh choliya when in season.
