Dhal Powder (Parupu Podi)

Ingredients

Red gram Dhal : 1 cup
Bengal Gram Dhal : 1 tbsp
Black Gram Dhal : 1 tbsp
Fried Gram Dhal (bhuna Chana) : 1 tbsp

Pepper corn : 2/4 tsp
Red chillies : 5 Nos
Asafoetida Powder : 1/2 tsp
Ghee : 1 tbsp
Salt : to taste

Method:

  1. Roast dry the red gram dhal, bengal gram dhal and black gram dhal for five minutes on a low heat.
  2. Fry in the 1 tsp ghee. Add the peppercorns, red chillies and asafoetida powder.
  3. Powder all inredients in a dry blender or coffee grinder. Add salt.
  4. Serve with hot rice and ghee.
Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 min
Makes: 200 gram
