Stuffed Idlis

Ingredients

Idli Batter

For Stuffing
Potato - 3
Tomatoes -2
Carrot - 1
Capsicum - 1
Onion - 1
Green Chilli - 1
Ginger - 1 cm
Peas - 2 tsp
Oil - 2tsp
Corriander leaves
Salt - to taste
Chilli pd -i/2 tsp
Garam masala pd - 1/4 sp
Turmeric pd 1/4 sp

Method:

  1. Boil, peel & mash well. Boil Peas. Grate carrot & chop all thje other vegetables.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add onions, capsicum, green chilli and ginger. Fry till the onions turn light gold in colour.
  3. Add tomatoes & carrot. Fry till the tomatoes turn mushy. Add salt, chilli pd, garam masala podwer, turmeric podwer & fry a little.
  4. Stir in mashed & boiled potatoes along with peas.
  5. To make stuffed idlis, mix a little salt to the fermented idli dough. Grease the idli mould & pour a little batter to cover the bottom of the mould.
  6. Spread 1 & 1/2 tsp of fillings & over it with little more batter.
  7. Repeat with the remaing batter.
  8. Steam for 15 mts & allow it to cool.
  9. To assemble mix one tsp water with 1 tsp ghee & sprinkle this mixture over the idli to keep it moist.
  10. If you want it hot mix i tsp of molaga podi & oil & sprinkle over the idlis.
