Hi ! I am Sookham Dhaliwal and I live in Monroe, Louisiana. I enjoy visiting this site as I enjoy cooking and entertaining. I am a busy mom with three kids and am not working at the moment. I hope you find these kababs easy to make because they are my favorite quick fix-ups and they freeze well too. Just sprinkle a bit of water on them and pop them in the m/w and they are as good as freshly made!

Keema Kababs

Ingredients

1 lb keema
1 onion
1 egg
1/2 slice of bread
2 hot green chillies (opt)
salt to taste (about 1 1/2 t)
1 t. red pepper
1 t. each whole jeera, powdered jeera, whole coriander and powdered coriander
1/2 cup coriander leaves
1"sliced ginger
6-7 cloves garlic or 1 T. minced bottled garlic
1 t. garam masala
1/2 t. freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. In the food processor, coarsely chop onion, garlic and ginger.
  2. Add the keema and all the other ingredients and process till the mixture is coarse but not lumpy.
  3. Empty in a bowl and with oiled hands form sheesh kababs (in the shape of a sausage) and put onto bamboo skewers and shape them so that all the kababs look smooth.
  4. Put them on a foil lined cookie or baking sheets (2).
  5. Pre heat broiler and when hot, put the baking sheets under the broiler and let it broil for about 5-10 minutes till brown on on side.
  6. Remove sheets from the broiler and quickly change over sides with tongs and broil till brown and done. Remove as you dont want them to get tough.
  7. Serve on a platter of onions and quartered lemons with a bowl of coriander chutney or ketchup.

If out of the freezer, sprinkle with water and cover with wrap and zap in the microwave for a minuter or two, and voila they are done.
