Spinach Lentil Vada

Ingredients

1) Lentil Dal - 2 Cups
2) Green Spinach Leaves - A handful
3) Red Chillies - 4 to 5
4) Salt - 1 Tsp
5) Ginger - 1 small piece
6) Mint leaves - 4 to 5
7) Asafoetida - A Pinch
8) Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Soak Lentil dal for 2 to 3 hours.
  2. Chop the spinach leaves into small pieces.
  3. Grind the lentil dal coarsly adding red chilli, salt and ginger and asafoetida.
  4. Add the spinach leaves to the batter.
  5. Heat some oil in the kadai.
  6. Flatten the prepared batter in a plastic sheet.
  7. Deep fry the vadas till golden brown.
  8. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.

Note: Add very little water while grinding the dal.
