I am Neelam from SanJose, California. A few months back, I belonged to the category of people who feel "cooking is not my cup of coffee". But now that I make regular visits to bawarchi.com, I dare to try my own dishes. Here is one which I tried, and would like to share with all you bawarchi fans out there.

Poha Vada

Ingredients

1/2 cup Poha (thick)
1 Potato
1 Medium sized Onion (chopped)
3-4 Green Chillies (finely chopped)
2 tbsp Cilantro (chopped)
1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
Salt (As per taste)
Oil (For deep frying)

Method:

  1. Wash the poha, drain the water and leave it aside.
  2. Boil the potato and mash it.
  3. Add the mashed potato, chopped onion, green chillies and cilantro to the poha. Add salt and cumin seeds to the above mix. Mix well all the ingredients.
  4. Make balls out of the mix and flatten.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry them till golden brown.

Hmmm...tasty poha vadas are ready to eat. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or chutney.
