Curry Leaves Kolambu

Ingredients

Picked Curry Leaves - 1 cup
Dry Red Chillies - 5
Tamarind - small lemon size
Oil - 3-4 sp
Raw Rice - 1 tsp
Salt - 3/4 tsp
Cummin Seed - 3/4 tsp
Pepper Pods - 3/4 tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp

Method:

  1. Soak tamrind in 1/4 cup of water & strain. Wash & drain water from Curry leaves.
  2. Heat a pan with a tsp of oil, Fry cumin seed, pepper pods and 4 red Chillies till roasted. Cool it.
  3. Add curry leaves, salt, tamarind water, rice, turmeric powder and 1 cup of water. Grind it to a smooth paste.
  4. Heat the remaining oil, add mustard and the remaining red chillies. When mustard starts cracking add ground paste. Simmer till raw smell of curry leaves disappears & the gravy is thick.
  5. Serve with hot rice.
  6. This can be stored for 2 days & can be taken while travelling. Hope you enjoy it!
