Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

1. Ripe Tomatoes 2
2. Red chillies 3
3. Chana Dal 2tsp
4. Urad dal 2tsp
5. Dhaniya (seeds) 1tsp
6. Jeera 1tsp
7. Tamarind 2strips
8. Salt to taste
9. Oil 3 spoons

Method:

  1. Soak tamarind in 4 - 5 spoons of warm water, fry all the above ingredients except for tomatoes and tamarind in a pan without oil.
  2. Once evrything is fried add tomatoes to them and allow them to cook.
  3. Add salt as required and tamarind, grind these to a smooth paste.
  4. In a pan add 3 spoons of oil, allow it to heat and add asafoedita to it.
  5. Now add the ground paste, mix it and allow it cook for 5 minutes in simmer.
  6. Sprinkle with coriander leaves and serve with hot rice, idli or dosa.
  7. Good for 1 week if refrigerated.
