My name is Shirisha Kondury and am a regular visitor to this web site. Have tried quite a lot of recipes from her and today want to share one of my dishes with you all. Hope you like it.

Capsicum and Peas Pulav

Quantity: The recipe given would make sufficient for 2 adult people.

Ingredients

1. 2 cups of rice
2. Capsicum-2 big or 3 if medium sized(cut into small cubes)
3. Green peas-1/2 cup
4. Coconut Powder - 1/2 cup
5. Chana Dal or Gram - 1 tbsp
6. Mustard seeds or Rai -1/2 tbsp
7. Jeera or Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
8. MTR Sambar powder - 1 tbsp
9. Vegetable Oil - 2 tbsp
10. Salt to taste
11. Finely chopped Coriander or Cilantro for garnishing

Method:

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly, cook it and keep it aside.
  2. In a deep vessel, put the oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chana dal.
  3. When the dal is slightly brown add the capsicum pieces and cook for 2-3 mins, then add peas.
  4. When cooked properly, add sambar powder, coconut powder and salt,mix well and let it cook for 2-3 mins.
  5. Add precooked rice to this mixture, take care that the rice has cooled enough. If you add hot rice, the grains get mashed and it becomes sticky.
  6. Garnish with coriander and serve hot with curd or yogurt.
