Raw Plantain - Bread Masala

Ingredients

1. Raw Plantain - 2 nos
2. Salt or Sandwich bread - 10 loaves
3. Onion -- finely chopped - 2 nos.
4. Tomatoes (cut into small pieces - 2
5. Ginger - small piece
6. Sombu - 1 tsp
7. Cinnamon - small piece
8. Salt - to taste
9. Oil - to fry
10. Curry leaves - 1 stalk
11. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
12. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp.
13. Garlic - 5 pearls.

Method:

  1. Cut the plantain into big pieces about 3" long, add salt and turmeric powder and cook it in water and keep aside.
  2. Cut the bread also of the same size and keep it aside.
  3. Grind the ginger and garlic into a nice paste.
  4. Pour oil in a kadai and deep fry the plantain and take it out.
  5. Deep fry the bread also till it becomes light brown in colour.
  6. Heat about 3 tsp of oil in a pan and sombu and cinnamon and fry them. Add the chopped onion and 1 pinch salt and saute till it becomes brown colour or the till the smell of the fried onion is got.
  7. Add the chopped tomatoes, and the salt required for the entire masala and saute for a little while (2 minutes).
  8. Add the ground ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder and saute till the oil separates and comes out and till the raw smell of the ginger-garlic and chilli powder goes.
  9. Add the bread and plantain, reduce the fire of the stove and saute for another 5 minutes. Take it off after that and serve as a side dish for meals.
