Hi All,
I am Sree. I live in N, Va with my husband and am doing my master's. I have a different recipe for dal which I learnt from my husband who made for me during my exams. It was real good. It is easy and quick to do.

Moong Dal

Ingredients

Moong dal : 2 cups
Tomato : 2 medium
Onion : 1/2
Garlic : 6-8 flakes
Curry leaves : 2 stalks
Green chilies : 4
Red chilies : 3
Turmeric : a pinch
oil and Jeera

Method :

  1. Wash the moong dal, cut the green chilies into small pieces, put these together and boil them in a pressure cooker for one whistle.
  2. Heat the oil, put the cumin seeds and red chilies, let splutter, then add the curry leaves and then the garlic flakes cut into small pieces.
  3. Fry the garlic a little, until light brown or a nice aroma is felt,.
  4. Then add the onions sliced and let it fry.
  5. Next add the turmeric and then the tomatoes sliced.
  6. Once the tomatoes are cooked add the dal and then the salt as per taste.
  7. Leave it on a medium flame for 5 minutes, and the dal is ready.
