Hello, I'm Swarna living in Guelph,Canada with my husband & my 2 year old Divya .My favorite past time is browsing bawarchi for recipes .Here is my recipe for "Paneer Irani" which is a simple yet elegant dish.Please send in ur comments to swarna_n@yahoo.com.

Paneer Irani

Ingredients

Paneer 300 gms(approx . made from 1.5 ltrs milk)
Tomatoes 150 gms
Onions 150 gms
Ginger 1 inch
Garlic 10 gms
Oil - few tablespoons
Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1 1/2 tsp (regular chilii powder can be used too)
Egg 1 (optional)
Cream 3 tablespoons
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Butter 2 tablespoons
Cinnamon 1 stick
Bayleaf 1

Method :

  1. Grind ginger, garlic, onions together.
  2. Heat oil add cinnamon, bayleaf.
  3. Then add finely chopped tomatoes, prepared paste & cook for sometime in medium flame.
  4. Add chilli powder & cook for while.
  5. Turn off heat to slow cooking.
  6. Add little water to make a gravy & add paneer pieces & simmer for a while.
  7. Add beaten egg, mix slowly.
  8. Then add butter & lightly simmer.
  9. Finally add cream & remove from fire.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.

This gravy goes well with rotis or even plain basmati rice.
