Hi,

Mango Dal

Ingredients

1 Raw mango
A handful of split moong dal, picked and washed
2 chillis chopped
4 cloves of garlic chopped
Salt, little red chilli powder

Method

  1. Cut mango into small pieces and place them along with dal, garlic, green chillies along with 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
  2. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  3. When pressure drops, mash the mixture well with the back of a spoon or a potato masher.
  4. The mixture should have a creamy consistency with a little bit of water left in it.
  5. Add a couple tablespoons cooking oil to a frying pan and prepare seasoning with mustard, chana, curry leaf and jeera and add it to the Dal.
  6. Allow Dal to boil for 3 to 4 minutes while you add salt and little chilli powder to get color and stir.
  7. This is a wonderful dish to go with rice or roti.
  8. You can add coriander leaves if you like, just before you are finished cooking it.
