Fish Fry

Ingredients

Medium size whole Macral or Pomfret fish or cut into
4-6 inch size pieces
3 teaspoon chilly powder
3 spoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
3 teaspoon cream of rice or cream of wheat (or plain multipurpose wheat flour may be used)
1 teaspoon of peanut oil
Salt
Fresh coriander for garnish.

Method:

  1. To salt the fish:
    Wash fish pieces thoroughly 3 times with fresh water Add about 1/2 cup of plain salt to the fish, mix and apply it all over the fish pieces Leave aside for about 45 minutes.

  2. Masala:
    Take 3 teaspoon of red chilly powder, 3 spoon of coriander powder and 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 3 teaspoon cream of rice or cream of wheat (or plain multipurpose wheat flour may be used) on a fry plate or on a baking sheet. Mix the above ingredient well.

  3. Wash the salted fish thoroughly.
  4. In a frying pan add 3 teaspoon of peanut oil, keep the pan on a medium to low flame. One by one take the fish and apply the above masala thoroughly to all sides of fish and arrange them in a frying pan. Cover the pan. In about 7-10 minutes turn the fish on other side carefully with spatula, try not to break the pieces of.. Cook on either side for about 10 minutes each.
  5. Once done remove in a serving dish, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with drinks as a starter or as a part of main course with rice and curry.
