Hi,
I am Mrs Deepa Kannan....I live in Florida....and I love cooking new dishes and experimenting.... I want to contribute tomato rasam(without tur dal).....my mom Mrs Radha Narayanan taught me this and we used to call this as "GOOD RASAM"....cause its very easy and also very tasty......do try this and send me ur opinion or any doubts about this..........

Rasam

Ingredients

1) mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
2) methi seeds - 1 teaspoon
3) cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
4)chana dal - 1 teaspoon
5)tomato(cut into small pieces) - 1
6) tamarind
7) coriander
8) dry chilli - 2 nos
9)rasam powder
10) turmeric
11)salt to taste
12) oil - 2 tablespoons or ghee
13) Jagerry - small piece

Procedure

Soak the tamarind in water.....take a kadai and put 2 tablespoons of oil.... put mustard seeds , methi seeds,cumin seeds,chana dal ,dry chilli and allow them to splutter and turn light brown.....then add the tamarind water....add turmeric, rasam powder ,salt and allow it to boil for 5 min.....then add the cut tomatoes and keep it till it cooks.....then put a small piece of jaggery.....

Garnish it with coriander .....
