Easy Tomato Rasam

Ingredients for Cooking

Ripe tomatoes - 5 Nos   
Grated fresh coconut - 1/2 cup
Jeera - 1 teaspoon
Whole Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Tamarind pulp - 3 teaspoons
Curry leaves - 10-12
Jaggery /sugar - 2 teaspoons
Rasam Powder - To taste
Salt - To taste

For Garnish
Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
Asefotida - 1 pinch
Ghee - 3 Teaspoons
Coriander - 2 teaspoons(Chopped)

Method:

  1. Blanch the tomatoes in hot water.
  2. Add coconut, jeera, whole pepper, tamarind pulp, curry leaves and grind the same to a paste consistency. 
  3. Add enough water to get the same to rasam consistency.
  4. Add rasam powder, salt and sugar
  5. Bring it to boil.
  6. Once the aroma of the rasam spreads switch of gas.
  7. Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard,jeera and asefotida.
  8. Garnish the rasam with tadka and coriander
  9. Your rasam is ready to drink as soup or to be served with rice and pappads!
