Bread Idli

Ingredients

1 Medium sized Bread
1/2 KgPotatoes
1 Tsp Jeera Powder
1 Tsp Dhania Powder
1TspSaufPowder
1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
Salt as per Taste
1-Cup Tomato Sauce
1 Cup Coriander Chutney
1 Cup Little Sour Curd

Ingredients for Seasoning :
3 Tb Sp Refined Oil
1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1/4 Tsp Jeera Seeds
1 Green Chilli Chopped
1Tsp Freshly cut Corainder Leaves

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes, peel and smash them .
  2. Add dhania powder, jeera powder, sauf powder, red chilli powder salt as per taste mix well and keep aside.
  3. Heat 1 Tsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, jeera seeds, chopped green chilies little salt and freshly cut coriander leaves
  4. Add this seasoning to the curds.
  5. Take a lid of a stainlesteel container and cut the bread slices with that so they are in a round shape.
  6. Take one bread slice and apply tomato sauce to one side and potato mix to the other side.
  7. Take another slice and apply the coriander chutney.
  8. Put the two slices together with the sauce - chutney side.
  9. For coriander chutney, just grind 1 bunch of fresh coriander leaves with 2-3 green chillies, salt and 1/2 rind lemon juice.
  10. Heat the tawa and brush it with oil.
  11. Put the bread slice with the potato mixture on the tawa and apply curds on the top portion.
  12. Pour oil over the sides of the bread and cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 5-6 minutes or until the potato mixture is evenly roasted.
  13. The upper portion of the bread will slightly bulge when it is cooked.It looks like an Idli.
  14. Hence the name BREAD IDLI.
  15. Remove from fire and serve hot.

VARIATION : We can use mint chutney or onion chutney or chilli sauce in the place of coriander chutney according to one's liking.
