Hi, I am Savita. Here is one recipe that goes very well with Ven Pongal (Khichdi), Rice and Rotis. It is very easy to make and is delicious. Enjoy !!!

Brinjal Gotshu

Ingredients

1 medium brinjal (cut in small pieces)
2 tomatoes
Oil
Salt to Taste
Turmeric -1/2 tsp
Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
Ginger - a small piece
Moong dal - 1/2 cup cooked
Tamarind paste (mix it with 1 and 1/2 cups of water)
Mustard seeds  - 1 tsp
Bengal gram dal.- 1 tsp
Few sprigs of curry leaves

  Method

  1. Cut the brinjal and tomatoes to fine pieces.
  2. In a pan, put some oil ( 2 tsp) and add mustard seeds to it.
  3. When the seeds splutter add bengal gram dal to it.
  4. When the dal turns golden brown add the curry leaves.
  5. Now add the tomatoes and brinjal pieces and fry it for about a minute.
  6. Then add the tamarind water to this.
  7. Add turmeric, ginger, salt and sambhar powder and allow it to boil for  a few minutes.
  8. When the brinjal and tomatoes are cooked, add the cooked dal to this and delicious gothsu is ready in a few minutes.  

Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 10 mins.
