Hi,
this is Arti Navare from Baltimore. This is a typical Maharashtrian  dish  and it is easy to make with in less time. Try it once and you will do it most!  Suggestions are welcome. Email:artipune@yahoo.com

Dahi-butti

Note: All ingredient quantities are ap prox.

Ingredients

1 cup Boiled rice
2 cups curd
2 tbsp chopped coriander
Pinch of Hing
1 tsp Jira
4-5 Kadipatta
Salt as per taste
Chili powder / chili as per taste

 Procedure:

  1. Let the boiled rice cool enough to add to the curd.
  2. Now add curd in to  the  cooled  boiled  rice  and mix  well.
  3. Add chopped coriander and salt in to it and again  mix well, and keep it aside.
  4. Heat approximately 1tbs. oil in a pan.
  5. When the oil reaches to the boiling temperature, add   jira   and   hing to it, followed  by the kadhipatta and chili. if chili powder is used, add it directly into the  mixture of boiled rice and curd.)
  6. Now add it into the mixture of boiled rice and curd, and  then again mix well so that the oil  will  spread evenly.
  7. Serve in the beginning or in the end of the course.

Usually this dish is served with other spicy dishes  as  the curd  acts as a nullifier  for the hot and spicy  food.  The time required is about  15-20 mins.( including  boiling of rice in the pressure cooker)
