Yellow Dal
Note: All ingredient quantities are ap prox.
Ingredients
Tur Dal - 1 Cup
Moong dal - 1/4 cup
Tomatoes- 2 chopped
Hing- to taste
Salt- to taste
Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Sambhar powder - 11/2 tbsps
Ghee - 2 tbsps
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Method
- Cook both the dals with turmeric powder in the pressure cooker.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and splutter.
- Add chilli powder, hing, sambhar powder and tomatoes and mix well.
- Saute till the ghee oozes out. Add salt and mix well.
- Lastly add the cooked dals and boil for few minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
This dal is very simple to make and very tasty and gets its different taste due to the sambhar powder.
