Hi this is Ameena. I wanted to share with the readers a simple and yet tasty Bengali dish.

Aloo Posto

Ingredients

Poppy seeds - 4 teaspoon
Onion slice - 1
Potatoes-2/3 medium size
Kalonji-1/2 teaspoon
salt & sugar to taste. Oil for frying and water

Method

 

  1. First of all heat the oil in a pan and put the kalonji seeds , and when they start to pop  out put the onion slices in that.
  2. When the color of onion changes to transparent ,put the potatoes piece , cook for sometime.
  3. Fry the potatoes for 5 minutes or so.
  4. Then put salt and sugar ( according to individual taste).
  5. After stirring for another 4/5 minutes put the poppy seed paste in it.
  6.  Again stir it and cover the pan with a lid ,if required one can put some water .
  7. Serve the dish with rice only .
