Hi, this is Priya Sampath. Right now here in Bellevue, Washington its freezing as can be. But here is a drink for the sunny days. This is a drink which my hubby gulps down with relish be it summer or winter. Hope Y'all will like it too!!

Thandai

Ingredients

1)Milk---4cups
2) Grind to a fine powder
Cinnamon(1 stick)
Cardamom(2 tsps)
Peppercorns(5-8 no.s)
3) Boil the below and peel and grind to a fine paste with a little warm milk.
Almonds---1/4 cup
cashews---1/4 cup
Pista---1/4 cup
Melon seeds--1/4 cup(if available)
4) Khus khus(2 tsps) soak in water for 15 mins.And grind it with the above paste.
5) Sugar(acc. to taste)

Method:

  1. Take a pan add milk add saffron (1/2tsp) and then add sugar and heat till sugar dissolves.
  2. Then to the milk add the powdered spices and stir and off the heat.
  3. Add the ground paste to the heated milk and stir well.
  4. Heat the milk for a few seconds. cool it at room temp.
  5. Cool it then in refrigerator and Serve.
