Hi!
My name is Meenakshi and I would like to share one of my husband's recipes with you. It's a dal made with whole Moong and tastes great with rice or chappattis. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Moong Dal

Ingredients

1.1/2 cup Whole Moong Dal
2. Ginger
3. 2 to 3 Green chillies
4. 1 large Onions
5. 1 to 2 teaspoon Curry Powder
6. Mustard Seeds
7. Turmeric Powder
8. 2 tomatoes

Method :

  1. Boil Moong Dal with some turmeric powder in a Pressure Cooker and keep aside.
  2. Take two to three teaspoons oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds.
  3. When the seeds splutter add ginger, green chillies and Onions and fry until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add 1 to 2 teaspoon of curry powder and fry for a minute or two.
  5. Now add the cooked Moong dal, water, salt and one tomato and let the mixture simmer for a couple of minutes.
  6. When the tomatoes are cooked turn of the heat.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.

This dal tastes delicious with hot chappattis or rice.
