Festival Recipes Murukku
This is Diwali special dish.
Rice flour (prepared from soaked rice) - 2 cups (400 gm)
Fried black gram dal powder - 2 tea spoons
Cumin (Jeera) - 1 tea spoon
Sesame seed (til) - 1 tea spoon
Asafoetida (hing) powder - 1 tea spoon
Butter for mixing - 1 table spoon
Oil for frying
Salt to tasteMethod
- Prepare hard dough with all the ingredients by adding water little by little
- Put a big ball of dough into the murukku press and press it above dry cloth
- At first make a circular motion of the press while pressing the press with the dough
- Make four more circles around the first circle and stop
- Keep oil in a deep pan on fire and fry the murukku till it turns golden and crisp
- Remove from the oil,drain the oil,store it in an airtight container
