Festival Recipes

Vella Seedai

This recipe is prepared on Krishna Ashtami (Krishna Jayanthi).

Rice powder - 2 cups
Jaggery (gur) - 1 cup
Coconut scraping - 1/2 cup
Fried Black gram powder - 1 tea spoon
Oil for frying

Method

  1. Prepare a syrup of jaggery with little water
  2. Add rice flour, dal powder, coconut scraping, cardamom powder to the syrup;prepare dough
  3. Make small balls with the dough and keep aside for 30 minutes
  4. Heat the oil in a deep pan on fire and fry the seedai till it turns crisp and brown
  5. Store in a air tight container
