For Dough:
2 eggs, well-beaten
4 cups plain flour
1 packet dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup warm waterFor Filling:
3 tbsp melted butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon powder
1/4 cup chopped walnutsFor Icing:
3/4 cup powdered sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla essence 3 tbsp cream cheese 1 tbsp milkMethod:
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and keep it for 10 minutes
- Sift the flour, and salt together; keep aside
- Heat the milk; just before it comes to boil add salt, sugar and butter
- Stir it well and let it cool till it is lukewarm
- Add the yeast mixture in milk and keep it for another 5 minutes
- Add beaten egg in the milk
- Add flour mixture slowly to the milk; stirring to form a smooth dough
- Cover and keep in warm place for 2 hours; the dough should double
- Punch down, let rise again until nearly double, about 45 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon powder
- Roll the dough out into rectangle about 1/2 inch thick
- Brush the dough with melted butter
- Sprinkle the sugar mixture over it
- Top with chopped walnuts
- Roll dough from top edge to bottom edge (from a long)
- Pinch the ends to seal
- Cut the roll into 10 to 12 slices
- Place 6 at a time on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until light brown.
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients of icing
- Beat with electric mixture till fluffy
- Drizzle the icing over the top of each roll
