Fish Dishes
Fish Podimas

Ingredients

400 gms fish (preferably shark)
2 potatoes, boiled and peeled
2 onions, chopped finely
2 potatoes, chopped finely
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 green chilli, chopped finely
2 dry red chilli powder, halved
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp urad dal
2 tbsp grated coconut
3 tbsp oil
Salt as per taste
few curry leaves
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:

  1. Clean and wash the fish
  2. Make small pieces (approx 2")
  3. Boil the fish pieces till cook
  4. Drain the pieces
  5. Smash the potatoes and fish pieces
  6. Mix them well
  7. Add oil in a pan
  8. Add urad dal, when light brown add mustad seeds
  9. When they splutter, add curry leaves
  10. Add onion and fry till transparent
  11. Add green chillie, and red chillies
  12. Simmer for 2 minutes
  13. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder
  14. Add fish-potato mixture
  15. Add salt
  16. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously
  17. Add grated coconut and mix well
  18. Let is cook for another 2-3 minutes
  19. Serve in the dish
  20. Garnish with coriander leaves
  21. Serve hot
